Robert Jones

Bob received a Bachelor of Interdisciplinary Studies “Family Counseling” from George Mason University in 2005, a degree that combined studies in Social Work, Psychology and Sociology.  Subsequently he received his Master’s degree in Social Work from Virginia Commonwealth University (2009).  During the time he was in school, he was already working in his intended field of concentration.  Bob has seventeen years’ experience in social work practice in a variety of settings, both private and government.  Bob has worked extensively with co-occurring individuals dealing with mental health issues along with substance abuse.  He has a special interest in helping family members retain or regain relationships.  He knows that it takes “a village” to raise a child, and he teaches family members skills they can use to be a constructive part of that village.  Bob is proficient in Cognitive Behavioral Therapy (CBT), and specifically Dialectical Behavior Therapy (DBT) which includes Mindfulness, and in the utilization of Trauma Recovery and Empowerment Model for men (M-TREM).  In the Fall of 2017, Mr. Jones successfully completed a 3-part (42-hour Category I Continuing Education Contact Hours) and is Certified by the National Association of Social Workers, Virginia Chapter as a Certified Trauma Specialist.  In March of 2019, Bob was approved by the Virginia Board of Psychology and is currently  receiving supervision for a certification as a Certified Sex Offender Treatment Provider (CSOTP).
