Monica McMillan is also a Certified Sex Offender Treatment Provider (CSOTP) and Certified Substance Abuse Counselor–Supervisee (CSAC-S). Monica holds dual master’s degrees from Walden University: a Master of Science in Clinical Mental Health Counseling with a specialization in Trauma and Crisis Counseling and a Master of Science in Forensic Psychology with a specialization in Sex Offender Behavior.
Monica has extensive experience working with children, adolescents, adults, and justice-involved individuals across a variety of settings, including hospital crisis services, residential treatment, community-based services, correctional facilities, and forensic treatment programs. Her clinical background includes supporting individuals experiencing trauma and victimization, anxiety, depression, substance use and co-occurring disorders, behavioral challenges, crisis situations, anger, and significant life transitions.
As a military veteran, Monica brings a unique perspective of resilience, accountability, compassion, and perseverance to her work. She believes every client is unique and that meaningful change begins with feeling heard, respected, and understood. Monica meets clients where they are while helping them develop the insight, confidence, and practical skills needed to move toward where they want to be.
Monica uses an integrative, trauma-informed approach that may incorporate Cognitive Behavioral Therapy (CBT), Dialectical Behavior Therapy (DBT), Motivational Interviewing (MI), Solution-Focused Brief Therapy (SFBT), mindfulness-based interventions, strengths-based approaches, relapse prevention, psychoeducation, and Polyvagal-informed practices. Her goal is to help clients better understand their thoughts, emotions, and behaviors while developing healthier coping strategies and improving emotional regulation.
