At Counseling & Forensic Services (CFS), our commitment to serving veterans extends far beyond the counseling room. Through our partnership with the Virginia Department of Veterans Services and the Suicide Prevention and Opioid Addiction Services Grant Program, we have been able to bring critical behavioral health resources directly into the communities where veterans and their families live, work, and gather.

Awarded Funding to Expand Veteran Services

CFS was honored to receive funding through the Virginia Department of Veterans Services Suicide Prevention and Opioid Addiction Services Grant Program. This grant allows us to provide free mental health and substance use treatment services to eligible veterans, service members, and their immediate family members.

Services available through the program include:

  • Individual counseling
  • Trauma and PTSD treatment
  • Depression and anxiety support
  • Substance abuse and recovery services
  • Anger management
  • Family and relationship counseling
  • Suicide prevention and crisis support

Our goal is simple: remove barriers to care and ensure veterans receive the support they deserve.

Bringing Resources Directly to the Community

Throughout the year, CFS actively participates in community outreach events, veteran appreciation activities, educational forums, and local celebrations to increase awareness of available services.

From marching in community parades to hosting informational booths and distributing educational materials, our team works to ensure veterans know help is available and accessible.

These outreach efforts allow us to connect with veterans who may not otherwise seek services and provide them with information about available resources, treatment options, and support programs.

Building Strong Partnerships

CFS continues to collaborate with community organizations, veteran service agencies, healthcare providers, and state partners to strengthen support systems for veterans and their families.

Through participation in veteran-focused networking events, educational symposiums, and community initiatives, we are helping create a stronger continuum of care for those who have served our country.

Supporting Suicide Prevention Efforts

Members of the CFS team have participated in statewide suicide prevention initiatives, including the Amy S. Howard Suicide Prevention Symposium hosted at the Virginia War Memorial.

These events bring together providers, advocates, and community leaders who share a common goal: reducing veteran suicide and increasing access to life-saving mental health services.

By participating in these initiatives, CFS remains committed to staying informed, connected, and engaged in best practices that improve outcomes for veterans throughout Virginia.

Making an Impact Across Virginia

Our outreach efforts are more than community appearances, they are opportunities to connect, educate, and serve.

Every event attended, every brochure distributed, and every conversation held brings us one step closer to ensuring veterans and their families know they are not alone.

Counseling & Forensic Services is proud to stand alongside the Virginia Department of Veterans Services and our community partners as we continue expanding access to mental health care, substance use treatment, and suicide prevention services for those who have served.
