The purpose of this group is to provide comradery and coping skills to depressed girls in the Loudoun County area. Also, it is to provide psychoeducation to both the girls and their parents while using a strengths-based approach.
Anticipated short term goals are: alleviate suicidal ideation within the group members; for the group members to identify possible triggers for their intense emotions; to learn and use appropriate coping skills when said trigger occurs; for parents to be able to identify depression in their children and to know what they should do to help; and to learn what resources are available in their county.
Anticipated long term goals are: to lessen the feeling of depression within the group members; to be able to use learned coping skills in various situations in their life; and for both group members and parents to be open in discussing depression.
