Based in the Washington, DC metropolitan area, Tyreese operates her private practice, Clinical & Forensic Associates, Inc., where she serves as a licensed mental health therapist, consultant, and trainer. She also works with Counseling and Forensic Services, treating clients who have been convicted of sex offenses since 2018. She is renowned for her expertise in educating law enforcement and first responders on mental illness, focusing on best practices for engaging high-risk individuals during mental health crises. Her extensive credentials include being a Licensed Professional Counselor, Certified Sex Offender Treatment Provider, and Certified Clinical Trauma Professional, among others.
Tyreese’s contributions to the field and community are widely recognized. She was honored as the 2021 Mental Health Advocate of the Year and has received two Honorary Doctorates—one in Leadership and another in Humanities. Her humanitarian efforts have earned her a prestigious Humanitarian Award for her anti-gun violence activism. In 2024, she was awarded the Biden Presidential Lifetime Achievement Award.
