Master’s Level Clinical Intern
Sean P. Myers

Hello! I’m Sean Myers and a Master’s student at the University of Kentucky’s College of Social Work with concentrations in Clinical Social Work, Substance Use Disorder, and Military Behavioral Health completing my practicum experience here at Counseling and Forensic Services. I am also completing the Certified Substance Abuse Counselor (CSAC) certification for the Commonwealth of Virginia.

I am a native Virginian who has called Northern Virginia home since graduating undergraduate studies at American University, in 2000 – minus a few stints in NYC and around the world.

People often see counseling as an intimidating experience – it is my goal to change that perception. While my passions are issues involving substance abuse, LGBTQ+, or military mental health, I am fully comfortable in helping people find their way in the complex landscape of depression, anxiety, work-related stress, self-esteem, anger, identity, or any point where we cannot handle things on our own.

Although I am comfortable working in modality frameworks such as CBT, DBT, or Trauma-Informed Care, I feel that each person is different and each approach to care should be unique. I take an individualized holistic approach to each person’s needs.

I have experience in working, and am most comfortable with, adolescents and adults ranging in age from 15 and older.
