Counseling Intern
Isabelle Diatta

Hello, my name is Isabelle Diatta. I am a first-generation college student from Senegal (West Africa). I speak four languages: English, French, Wolof and Diola. I spent my undergraduate years at Marymount University, where I received my B.A in Psychology with a double minor in Criminal Justice and Forensic Psychology. I am currently in the dual degree program at Marymount University, completing my master’s in forensic and legal psychology, as well as clinical Mental Health Counseling. Additionally, I have worked with children diagnosed with autism spectrum disorder as a Registered Behavior Technician for almost 4 years. As an intern at CFS, I work with individuals with various mental health concerns including sex offenders, anxiety, depression, ADHD and other related disorders. I enjoy working with children, teenagers, and adults from diverse backgrounds and cultures, as I believe everyone has the right to access mental health services. I utilize CBT, DBT, and SFBT to help my clients identify and change negative thought patterns, manage their emotions, improve their interpersonal skills, and focus on identifying strengths and solutions. I believe these intervention strategies along with other evidence-based approaches provide tools for specific challenges, guiding clients toward more effective coping and personal growth. My areas of interest include individuals and families affected by the criminal justice system, sex offenders, anxiety, depression, ADHD, Autism, grief and loss, and multicultural issues. Upon obtaining my licensure (LPC), I hope to continue working with underserved populations and provide accessible and effective services for all.
